Trikona houses (1, 5, 9) are the houses of fortune and dharma; tradition counts them as the most supportive houses of the chart.

How does Saturn work in this house?

Saturn is a natural malefic planet. Planets counted as malefic do well in upachaya houses (3, 6, 10, 11), where they grow stronger over time and give good results. In kendra and trikona houses, however, Saturn can also bring hardness or pressure to this area; it needs to be handled consciously.

Saturn in the 5th house: when does it strengthen, when is it strained?

Strengthens: in Libra, Capricorn or Aquarius, with Jupiter's aspect; conscious, effortful creativity. Strained: in Aries or the signs of the Sun and Moon; romance can give way to responsibility; as soul significator (atmakaraka) heavy responsibility around children.

Mature face: creativity that ripens consciously through effort. Raw face: postponing joy, a sense of delay.

Where does Saturn look from the 5th house?

In Vedic astrology a planet casts its gaze (drishti) on certain houses from where it stands and influences those areas too. In this placement:

• 2nd house (your savings, family, speech, food and drink, and values)
• 7th house (relationship, partnership, marriage, cooperation and the person opposite you)
• 11th house (income, goals, friends, networks and the fulfilment of wishes)

In which sign?

The same house placement gives results more easily when Saturn is in a sign where it is strong, and with more effort when it is in a sign where it struggles.
