Mars in the 7th house in Vedic astrology: Assertiveness and passion in partnership; patience and compromise require conscious effort. The 7th house is the area of relationship, partnership, marriage, cooperation and the person opposite you; Mars brings its themes of energy, courage, action, conflict, will here.

What does the 7th house describe? Kalatra/Yuvati Bhava (Spouse/Partnership House)

Karaka: Venus · Class: Kendra · resources–relationships axis (2/7)

This is the house of spouse, marriage, every kind of partnership, trade, and the "other party"; it sits directly opposite the 1st house.

• If strong: Harmonious partnerships, balance in marriage, trust in business partnerships.
• If challenged: Patience and mutual understanding should be prioritized in relationships. In tradition, difficulties in this house are read as the process of "learning to form relationships"; a definitive verdict of "you cannot marry" is never given.

Type of the 7th house

Kendra houses (1, 4, 7, 10) are the four pillars of the chart; a planet here speaks more visibly in life.

How does Mars work in this house?

Mars is a natural malefic planet. Planets counted as malefic do well in upachaya houses (3, 6, 10, 11), where they grow stronger over time and give good results. In kendra and trikona houses, however, Mars can also bring hardness or pressure to this area; it needs to be handled consciously.

Marana Kāraka Sthāna: tradition counts the 7th house as a tiring placement for Mars. This is not a verdict; it shows that the planet's matters need more care.

Mars in the 7th house: when does it strengthen, when is it strained?

Strengthens: as 10th lord career rises through marriage or partnership; with Jupiter's or Venus's aspect. Strained: on the classical 'tiring place' list (MKS: Mars in the 7th); as 3rd or 6th lord the spouse tests; haste and hard bargaining.

Mature face: seeing the spouse or partner as a teammate. Raw face: seeing the spouse as a rival, hurrying.

Where does Mars look from the 7th house?

In Vedic astrology a planet casts its gaze (drishti) on certain houses from where it stands and influences those areas too. In this placement:

• 10th house (career, status, social role, reputation and success)
• 1st house (your personality, body, health, self-presence and outlook on life)
• 2nd house (your savings, family, speech, food and drink, and values)

In which sign?

The same house placement gives results more easily when Mars is in a sign where it is strong, and with more effort when it is in a sign where it struggles.
